Tropic Trails was founded in August 2020 by experienced tourism professionals Anoop and Abid, combining decades of hands-on experience in adventure travel, wildlife tourism, birding, cycling expeditions, and destination management.
What started as a shared passion for nature and exploration has grown into a specialist travel company trusted by guests from around the world. Today, more than 90% of our guests are international travellers seeking authentic wildlife experiences, expert guidance, and carefully planned journeys across South India and beyond.
Unlike large tour operators where enquiries are handled by sales teams and tours are led by whoever is available, Tropic Trails was built differently. The same founders who answer your questions, design your itinerary, and coordinate your reservations are actively involved in the field, scouting destinations, leading tours, and continuously improving the experiences we offer.

Our Story
Before founding Tropic Trails, both Anoop and Abid worked in the adventure tourism industry and were colleagues at Kalypso Adventures. During the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, they found themselves at a crossroads when the tourism industry came to a standstill.
Rather than leaving the profession they loved, they decided to build something of their own.
Abid brought years of expertise in expedition logistics, trekking, cycling tours, route planning, and navigating remote regions across India. Anoop brought extensive knowledge of birds, wildlife, photography, and years of self-driven learning and field experience.
Both spent years assisting renowned birders, wildlife specialists, and tour leaders before establishing Tropic Trails. This combination of field knowledge, logistics expertise, and guest management became the foundation of the company.
Today, Tropic Trails continues to be personally led by its founders, ensuring that every tour reflects the same standards that built the company from the beginning.

Over the years, our team has explored destinations across the entire Western Ghats, from Kerala and Tamil Nadu to Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra and Gujarat. We have also conducted extensive scouting and research across the Andaman Islands, Sikkim, and parts of the Lower Himalayas.
Every destination we offer is backed by real field experience rather than information gathered from guidebooks or online resources.

More importantly, approximately 70% of our accommodations are located within wildlife habitats or key nature destinations rather than distant urban centres. This allows guests to spend more time in the field and less time commuting

All Tropic Trails departures are led by first-aid trained tour leaders. Every tour carries a dedicated first-aid kit and operates with a dedicated support vehicle. We maintain emergency contact information and hospital access details for every destination we operate.
From minor injuries to unexpected situations, our team is trained to respond quickly and effectively while ensuring the safety and comfort of our guests.
