After breakfast, we will depart for Fort Kochi, traveling along the historic Muziris Heritage Trail. Once a bustling trade hub, Muziris attracted merchants from around the world. Along the way, we will visit Cheraman Juma Masjid, India’s first mosque, believed to have been established in 629 AD. We will also explore Kottapuram Fort, a 16th century Portuguese stronghold, the Jewish Synagogue, a symbol of Kochi’s long-standing Jewish heritage, and Pallipuram Fort, one of the oldest surviving European monuments in India.
Upon reaching Fort Kochi, step into a world where Portuguese, Dutch, and British influences merge seamlessly. On the second day, visit the Mattancherry Palace, built by the Portuguese in the 16th century, and admire the Palayamkottai murals, which depict scenes from the Ramayana and Kochi’s history. In the Jew Town area, explore the Paradesi Synagogue, the oldest in the Commonwealth, adorned with rare antiques and an exquisite Belgian chandelier.
Take a leisurely stroll along the Kochi Beach waterfront, where you can watch the iconic Chinese fishing nets in action, a testament to Fort Kochi’s rich maritime legacy. In the evening, immerse yourself in Kerala’s classical arts with a mesmerizing Kathakali performance, where expressive gestures, elaborate costumes, and dramatic storytelling bring ancient legends to life. This two-day journey through Fort Kochi offers an enriching experience of history, architecture, and cultural traditions.
