ITINERARY

Day 1:
Thattekkad

Kayaking or Village cycling
Upon your arrival at Cochin International Airport, you will be picked up and transferred to Thattekkad (50 km), the foothills of Western Ghats hill range, the hills you will be cycling for the next few days. Your accommodation will be organized at Birds Murmur Camp by the Periyar river. Thattekkad is a birdwatching hotspot with multiple ecotones, the lush green moist deciduous patches, riverine forests and plantations all hosts many types of birds throughout the year. This destination is especially popular among bird enthusiasts. In the evening you can cycle around the pretty countryside or can go on a kayaking trip in the Periyar river.
Day 2:
Munnar

Today, you will begin your Kerala cycling holiday by pedalling towards Munnar, a small hill station known for its stunning greenery and tea plantations. As you ride towards your destination, you will leave the foothills behind, passing through lowland forests and small villages while gradually ascending into the hills on a road with moderate traffic, eventually to get to the challenging part of today’s cycling in the hills of Munnar (1500 meters). With a picturesque landscape and cool weather Munnar is one of the top destination every traveller has in their list to explore. The rolling hills and Shola patches, tea gardens which lays the green carpet for endless distances with the clear blue sky makes an otherworldly feel. Remember to grab your layers since its cooler up in the hills.
Day 3:
Periyar

We will be cycling towards Periyar Tiger Reserve, one of the most visited protected areas in India. This wild paradise is renowned for its unique and diverse flora and fauna; the tiger population stands at just over 40. Periyar Tiger Reserve shares its boundary with the Cardamom hill range. The pleasant aroma of spices, emanating from merchants’ yards, fills this small hilly town. Furthermore, the town coexists with various wild species, including Nilgiri Langur, Bonnet Macaque, Indian Wild Boar, and the Malabar Giant Squirrel.
Day 4:
Alleppey

You will set off towards Alleppey, passing through hilly terrain with views of spice plantations, tea, and coffee estates. The route includes numerous climbs and a remarkable downhill stretch as you bid farewell to the hills and reach the plains. Concluding 50 kilometres, before encountering busy roads, you will be transferred to Alleppey. Alleppey, the heart of Kerala’s enchanting backwaters, awaits your arrival. Your houseboat will be ready to welcome you, setting the stage for a serene journey through the expansive and picturesque waterways. As you cruise, you’ll pass by charming farming and fishing villages, offering a glimpse into the tranquil local life. Throughout the day, you’ll be treated to delicious meals prepared and served on the boat. At night, the boat will anchor, as the villagers lay out their fishing nets, providing a peaceful and unique evening setting. Relax and unwind on your houseboat, enjoying the most soothing and memorable cruise amidst the stunning backwaters of Alleppey.
Day 5:
Fort Kochi

As you set off from Alleppey, the ‘Venice of the East,’ known for its intricate network of backwaters and houseboats, you’ll soon find yourself riding alongside serene beaches. The gentle sea breeze will keep you cool as you pedal past quaint fishing villages, and you may also spot Chinese fishing nets, a hallmark of Kerala’s coastal heritage. Along the way, you can take short breaks to savor fresh coconut water or sample local snacks from roadside stalls. As you approach Fort Kochi, the landscape begins to shift, with the beaches giving way to the historic town’s colonial architecture and vibrant art scene Later in the evening you will set off on a guided walk to explore the area, Fort Kochi, with its centuries old spice markets, Dutch and Portuguese-influenced buildings, and charming cafés, is the perfect place to conclude your ride.
Day 6:
Kochi
All Meals
Airport Drop
You will be transferred and dropped off at Cochin International Airport.
