This day tour takes you to some of the region’s most remarkable birding hotspots, offering a harmonious blend of forest, wetland, and coastal ecosystems that attract a stunning variety of avian species. This tour includes transportation and refreshments as you journey away from the city centre. You will spend four hours birdwatching on foot in designated birding hotspots.

Wooded forests and paddy fields

Just an hour from Kochi, discover lush, natural forests interspersed with paddy fields. These verdant landscapes are havens for forest-dwelling and water-loving birds alike, making it an ideal spot to observe species in their natural habitat.
Possible sightings: Jungle Owlet, Red Spurfowl, Malabar Starling, Orange Minivet, Fork-tailed Drongo Cuckoo, Black-rumped Flameback, White-cheeked Barbet, Indian Blackbird, Brown-capped Pygmy Woodpecker, Indian Paradise Flycatcher and flocks of Egrets and Herons.

Seasonally Flooded Paddy Fields and Coastal Villages

Venture to the picturesque coastal villages near Kochi, where vast expanses of seasonally flooded paddy fields, marshes, and mangroves host an incredible diversity of migratory and resident bird species.
These wetlands provide abundant feeding grounds, making them perfect for spotting waders, waterfowl, and migratory shorebirds.
Possible sightings: Painted Stork, Black-winged Stilt, Whimbrel, and the remarkable Tibetan Sand Plover
